Frequently Asked Questions
Expanding Capacity and Learner Supports (ECLS) is an Alberta Education grant funded project operated by AISCA that is a partnership between Independent Schools, Private ECS Operators, and the contracted AISCA service providers. AISCA entered into the grant agreement beginning November 2020.
Independent Schools and Private ECS Operators need to work within their current funding allocations to provide supports to their students. The ECLS grant can supplement resources already in place. While this grant is insufficient to meet all the needs, it will help with accessing expertise and resources.
The goal is to expand the capacity of the school/ECS to meet the needs of their learners. This can happen through the provision of resources, consultations, professional learning, workshops, direct services, Community of Practice, staff coaching, or a combination of these.
Capacity building is embedded in everything we do.

We recognize and understand that some ECS operators have their own professionals and expertise to meet the needs of their children.
Private ECS operators and schools with Kindergarten can apply for and access mild/moderate, PUF or ESL funding for children who require it. The ECLS grant cannot provide services to children who are eligible for coding and funding in these areas.
ECLS can provide consultation, networking and professional development opportunities.
