New Heights School and Learning Services
New Heights School & Learning Services offers preschool, school, and home-based programs for children who are on the Autism Spectrum or have other similar challenges. New Heights seeks to engage the strengths of each student and help him or her become a confident, competent, productive and responsible citizen and lifelong learner. Our Home Program is funded primarily by Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), and provides specialized services to preschool age children on the Autism Spectrum. New Heights School is fully accredited and approved as a Designated Special Education Private School and consists of two programs. Both programs utilize the strengths and interests of students to develop skills and strategies for coping and learning at home, school, and in the community. Our Early Intervention Preschool Program is a play-based program for 3 to 6 year olds. Children attend preschool for half days, five days a week. Social Communication and Emotional Regulation are directly targeted, as well as academic, cognitive, self-help and fine and gross motor skills to address goals set out in each child’s IPP. Our School-Age Program serves children 6 to 20 years. We follow Alberta Learning curriculum with materials differentiated for each student through their IPPs, and we place a strong emphasis on academic independence, social communication, and self-regulation to develop skills and tools for a lifetime of success. We provide our teenage students the opportunity for employment experience and on- job coaching.
