Alberta’s Education System is Built on the Principle of Wide-ranging Options
Even before Alberta became a province in 1905, there were independent schools. Parents and educators recognized every child is different, and that schools should reflect that variety. Independent schools are all about choice, which is a value Albertans support.
Alberta parents are fortunate to have such a wide spectrum of options for schooling. Children have many needs, whether they are physical, mental, cultural or spiritual. These needs can be met by Alberta schools: public, separate, and independent.
