New Leaders Conference – Calgary
The event is intended for those in their first few years of leadership, whether as a principal or head of school or as vice/assistant principals who are curious about what the ‘next step’ in leadership might involve.
This year’s agenda is built around the nine competencies found in the Leadership Quality Standard and will involve a series of presentations and breakouts that introduce leaders to some of the critical demands they will face in their positions. Topics for this year’s session will include:
- The Leadership Quality Standard
- School Culture
- The Principal-Board Relationship
- Alberta Education Updates (Planning and reporting/changing requirements for use of grant funds)
- LQS related topics such as:
- Engaging Your School Community
- Teacher Growth Supervision & Evaluation & Teacher Evaluations
- Managing Professional Learning
- Supporting Diverse Learners
- Supporting the Application of First Nations, Metis & Inuit Foundation Knowledge
- Leading Teachers in the use of Data
- The Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia
- AISCA Services (DSA, ECLS, etc.)
- ECS Breakouts – topics TBA
This event provides new leaders with many opportunities to build a network of supportive contacts with the Education Ministry, the AISCA staff/board, and fellow school administrators.
