Alberta Education Literacy and Numeracy Information Session

Join us on November 21 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM for an important session hosted by AISCA in collaboration with Alberta Education. This session will focus on the new Kindergarten screening for literacy and numeracy, which will be implemented in schools this January.

During the session, we will cover:

• An overview of Early Years Assessment (EYA) requirements.
• Details on how to complete the Kindergarten literacy and numeracy assessments, including rare cases where exemptions may apply.
• Resources available to teachers for administering the assessments, including administration guides, intervention strategies, and departmental support for generating reports.
• The timing and frequency of the assessments.
• Reporting requirements for Early Childhood Services (ECS) operators.
• Information on intervention support funding available in 2025 for kindergarten students who need additional assistance in developing their literacy and numeracy skills.

The presentation will last approximately 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session to address your questions and concerns.
