DESCRIPTION:Who should register? All new principals, vice principals, and ECS directors are encouraged to attend.\nThe event is intended for those in their first few years of leadership, whether as a principal or head of school or as vice/assistant principals, who are curious about what the ‘next step’ in leadership might involve.\nThis year’s agenda is built around the nine competencies found in the Leadership Quality Standard and will involve a series of presentations and breakouts that introduce leaders to some of the critical demands they will face in their positions. Topics for this year’s session will include:\n\nThe Leadership Quality Standard\nSchool Culture\nThe Principal-Board Relationship\nAlberta Education Updates (Planning and reporting/changing requirements for use of grant funds & teacher misconduct)\nEngaging Your School Community\nTeacher Growth Supervision & Evaluation & Teacher Evaluations\nManaging Professional Learning\nSupporting Diverse Learners\nSupporting the Application of First Nations, Metis & Inuit Foundation Knowledge\nLeading Teachers in the Use of Data\nThe Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia\nAISCA Services (DSA, ECLS, etc.)\nECS Breakouts – topics TBA\n\nThis event provides new leaders with many opportunities to build a network of supportive contacts with the Education Ministry, the AISCA staff/board, and fellow school administrators.\nFurther Details and the Agenda will be sent to all attendees in July 2026.\n
