Much of the work that is done by AISCA staff and board members isn’t readily apparent because it involves building relationships and communicating with members of our provincial government as well as staff at Alberta Education. AISCA also spends a lot of effort on research and policy review; while these tasks may not impact your school on a day to day basis, they are crucial to ensuring a political climate that allows parental choice in education. There are also times when this advocacy work takes on a more public persona.

This was evident this past spring as AISCA staff defended the rights of parents to have equitable and sustainable access to choice in education. AISCA engaged with print, radio, and tv media to articulate the reasoned arguments for support of parental choice. In addition to this, AISCA communicated directly with elected officials, and provided materials to independent schools to support their grassroots advocacy efforts.
